Job Overview
The Supply Chain Sustainability Analyst will play a pivotal role in integrating sustainable practices into BASF Ethiopia’s supply chain operations. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will assess environmental impacts, develop carbon‑reduction strategies, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with global sustainability standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the entire value chain—from raw material sourcing to product delivery—while supporting BASF’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct life‑cycle assessments (LCA) for key raw materials and finished products to identify carbon hotspots.
- Develop and implement supplier sustainability scorecards, monitoring performance against ESG criteria.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and production teams to embed circular economy principles.
- Prepare quarterly sustainability reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Support the design of green logistics initiatives, including route optimization and low‑emission transportation.
- Lead workshops and training sessions for suppliers on BASF’s sustainability standards.
- Monitor regulatory developments in Ethiopia and the broader East African region related to chemical handling and environmental compliance.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in data‑analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks such as GRI, CDP, and ISO 14001.
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and supplier engagement.
- Project management experience, with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
- Understanding of chemical supply chains and associated environmental impacts.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Amharic is an advantage.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in sustainability (e.g., LEED, GRI Certified) are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in supply chain analysis, sustainability consulting, or ESG reporting, preferably within the chemicals or manufacturing sector.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a pension scheme.
