Job Overview

The Smart Manufacturing Robotics Engineer will lead the design, integration, and optimization of robotic systems for Siemens’ manufacturing clients in Ethiopia and the wider East African region. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop robotic cell layouts, end‑effectors, and control architectures tailored to client production lines.
• Program and configure industrial robots using RAPID, KRL, or equivalent languages, ensuring seamless integration with PLCs and SCADA systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and ROI calculations for automation projects.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to create custom fixtures, safety enclosures, and tooling solutions.
• Lead on‑site installation, commissioning, and performance validation of robotic systems.
• Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to client engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including system specifications, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing production data and recommending system upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with international safety standards such as ISO 10218 and local Ethiopian regulations.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert for Siemens’ smart factory portfolio, representing the company at industry conferences and trade shows.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in robot programming (e.g., Siemens SINUMERIK, ABB, FANUC, KUKA).
• Strong understanding of mechatronics, control theory, and sensor integration.
• Experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7, Allen‑Bradley) and industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and CAD models (SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a data‑driven mindset.
• Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Amharic is a plus.
• Project management capabilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability principles.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Siemens Certified Automation Engineer, Certified Robot Programmer) will be given preference.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in industrial robotics, automation engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments. Prior experience in the Ethiopian or East African market is advantageous but not mandatory.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be added.
