Job Overview

The Sustainability Procurement Specialist will lead the integration of environmental and social criteria into Nestlé Ethiopia’s sourcing strategy. This role focuses on building resilient supply chains that align with Nestlé’s corporate sustainability goals while ensuring cost‑effective procurement of raw materials and services. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sustainability criteria for all procurement categories, ensuring compliance with Nestlé’s global standards and local regulations.
• Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and risk analyses focused on environmental impact, labor practices, and ethical sourcing.
• Partner with the R&D and Marketing teams to source innovative, eco‑friendly ingredients that meet product quality standards.
• Negotiate contracts that incorporate sustainability clauses, performance metrics, and continuous improvement targets.
• Monitor and report on key sustainability KPIs, providing insights to senior management and external stakeholders.
• Lead training sessions for internal procurement staff and suppliers on best practices in sustainable sourcing.
• Collaborate with local farmer cooperatives to promote sustainable agriculture techniques and improve supply chain traceability.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical abilities with experience in data‑driven decision making.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of sustainable procurement frameworks such as ISO 20400 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective communication skills in English and Amharic; additional local languages are a plus.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Sustainable Procurement Professional (CSPP) or a master’s degree in sustainability will be considered an advantage.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have 3‑5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the food and beverage sector, with a proven track record of implementing sustainability initiatives. Experience working with local suppliers in Ethiopia and familiarity with Ethiopian procurement regulations are highly desirable.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 180,000 to 240,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are included as part of the total compensation package.
