Job Overview
The Senior Curriculum Development Manager will lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality curricula for primary, secondary, and vocational education programs. Reporting to the Director of Education Programs, you will work closely with subject matter experts, teachers, and policy makers to ensure that learning materials are culturally relevant, pedagogically sound, and aligned with national standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end curriculum development process for K‑12 and vocational programs, ensuring alignment with UNESCO guidelines and Ethiopian Ministry of Education standards.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments, stakeholder consultations, and gap analyses to inform curriculum design.
- Collaborate with local and international experts to integrate 21st‑century skills, digital literacy, and inclusive education practices.
- Oversee the creation of teaching and learning resources, including textbooks, digital modules, and assessment tools.
- Manage pilot testing, evaluation, and iterative refinement of curricula across diverse regions.
- Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building workshops for teachers, curriculum specialists, and education administrators.
- Monitor and report on curriculum implementation progress, impact metrics, and compliance with funding requirements.
- Represent UNESCO Ethiopia at national conferences, policy forums, and international education networks.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in curriculum design, instructional design, and educational standards.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with ability to translate data into actionable curriculum improvements.
- Excellent communication and facilitation abilities for diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proficiency in English and Amharic; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
- Experience with digital learning platforms and e‑learning content development.

Education
A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Design, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in curriculum development or educational technology are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in curriculum development, preferably within an international organization, government agency, or reputable NGO. Demonstrated success in leading large‑scale curriculum projects across multiple regions is essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 SSP per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional allowances for travel, professional development, and performance bonuses may apply.
