Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Hydrology Specialist to join our technical team in Semera. This role is critical to our mission of ensuring sustainable water management in the Afar region. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting advanced hydrological modeling, assessing groundwater availability, and designing sustainable water management strategies that account for climate variability. This position requires a deep understanding of the local hydrogeological landscape and the ability to translate complex data into actionable community-based solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive hydrological assessments and groundwater modeling to support community water projects.

• Supervise field teams during water quality testing and borehole drilling operations.
• Develop technical reports and feasibility studies for large-scale water infrastructure projects.

Required Skills

Education

A Master’s degree in Hydrology, Water Resource Engineering, Geosciences, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized hydrological field will be considered an advantage.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in hydrological research, water resource management, or groundwater modeling is required. Experience working in arid or semi-arid regions is highly preferred. Proven track record of managing technical water projects in a development context is essential.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 45,000 SSP to 65,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s expertise and experience level.
