Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Hydrometallurgy Specialist to lead our chemical extraction processes at the Semera facility. This role is critical to our production efficiency and involves overseeing complex leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing chemical reagent consumption, improving metal recovery rates, and ensuring that all metallurgical processes align with our strict environmental and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize hydrometallurgical processes including leaching, purification, and precipitation.
  • Conduct detailed metallurgical balance calculations to ensure maximum metal recovery.
  • Oversee the management of chemical reagents and optimize their consumption rates.
  • Troubleshoot complex process deviations in the plant to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with the laboratory team to interpret assay results and adjust process parameters.
  • Implement new technologies to enhance the efficiency of the extraction circuit.
  • Ensure all metallurgical activities comply with international environmental standards.

Required Skills

  • Advanced expertise in hydrometallurgical process design and optimization.

Education

A Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized metallurgical field is highly preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 7 years of direct experience in hydrometallurgical plant operations, preferably within a large-scale base metal or precious metal mine. Proven track record of process optimization and cost reduction is essential. Candidates with experience in the East African mining sector will be prioritized.

Salary
