Job Overview

The AI Ethics Specialist will lead the development and implementation of ethical frameworks for AI solutions across Deloitte’s client portfolio in Ethiopia and the broader East African region. You will assess AI models for bias, privacy risks, and compliance with local and international regulations, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate identified issues. This role involves close collaboration with data scientists, engineers, legal advisors, and business leaders to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.

In addition to advisory responsibilities, you will contribute to thought leadership by publishing whitepapers, delivering workshops, and representing Deloitte at industry conferences. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AI ethics guidelines, risk assessment tools, and compliance checklists tailored to Ethiopian regulatory frameworks.
• Conduct comprehensive audits of AI models to identify bias, fairness, transparency, and privacy concerns.
• Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to integrate ethical safeguards into model design, training, and deployment.
• Provide strategic counsel to clients on responsible AI adoption, including policy development, governance structures, and stakeholder engagement.
• Lead workshops, webinars, and training sessions for internal staff and external partners on AI ethics best practices.
• Monitor emerging AI regulations, standards, and industry trends globally and assess their relevance to the Ethiopian market.
• Produce research reports, case studies, and whitepapers that showcase Deloitte’s expertise in AI ethics.
• Support cross‑functional project teams in addressing ethical challenges during AI solution delivery.

Required Skills

• Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, data governance, and ethical risk management.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian data protection laws, emerging AI regulations, and international standards such as ISO/IEC 42001.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
• Effective communication skills to translate complex ethical concepts for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Proven experience in drafting policy documents, guidelines, and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Fluency in English and Amharic; additional local languages are a plus.

Education

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Ethics, Law, Philosophy, or a related field is required. Certifications in AI ethics, data privacy (e.g., CIPP/E), or risk management are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in AI ethics, data governance, compliance, or related advisory roles. Experience working with multinational consulting firms or technology companies in Ethiopia or the broader East African region is preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 250,000 to 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses and benefits are part of the total compensation package.
