Job Overview

The Heavy Equipment Sales Engineer will act as the primary technical liaison between Caterpillar Ethiopia and its clients in the construction, mining, and agricultural sectors. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and close sales opportunities for Caterpillar’s range of excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and motor graders.
  • Conduct on‑site assessments, provide technical proposals, and deliver product demonstrations to clients.
  • Collaborate with the service department to develop maintenance contracts and after‑sales support plans.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and contract documentation in line with company policies.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline in the CRM system and generate regular sales forecasts.
  • Represent Caterpillar at industry exhibitions, trade shows, and regional business forums.
  • Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to advise product development teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment specifications, hydraulics, and operational capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and client‑relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Ability to travel extensively across the Somali region and other parts of Ethiopia.
  • Fluent in English and Amharic; knowledge of Somali is a distinct advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in sales engineering, project management, or equipment maintenance will be given preference.
