Job Overview
The Risk Management Officer will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks across the Hawassa branch. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for credit, market, operational, and liquidity risks.
- Develop and maintain risk policies, procedures, and frameworks in line with Basel III and local regulatory requirements.
- Monitor risk indicators, prepare risk reports, and present findings to senior management and the Board.
- Collaborate with business units to embed risk controls into product development and daily operations.
- Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate potential impacts on the branch’s portfolio.
- Ensure timely escalation of risk issues and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, industry best practices, and emerging risk trends.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in risk modeling tools.
- In‑depth knowledge of banking regulations, Basel standards, and Ethiopian financial laws.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities to convey complex risk concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in risk management software and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams.
- High ethical standards and attention to detail.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of hands‑on experience in risk management within a banking environment.
