Job Overview
The Risk Analyst will join the Risk Management Department in Addis Ababa, playing a pivotal role in identifying, measuring, and mitigating financial and operational risks across the bank’s portfolio. Key Responsibilities
- Perform credit, market, and operational risk assessments using statistical models and stress‑testing techniques.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly risk dashboards for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Monitor risk indicators, flag emerging risk trends, and recommend mitigation actions.
- Ensure adherence to Basel III, local banking regulations, and internal risk policies.
- Collaborate with business units to embed risk‑aware decision making into product development and pricing.
- Maintain and enhance the bank’s risk data repository, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing required risk documentation.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, VBA, and statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
- In‑depth knowledge of credit risk, market risk, and operational risk frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing clear risk reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams.
- Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with Basel III, IFRS 9, and local regulatory requirements.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, or an MBA are highly preferred. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or PRM (Professional Risk Manager) add significant value.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in risk analysis within a banking or financial services environment.
