Job Overview

The Project Controls Engineer will play a pivotal role in planning, monitoring, and controlling the cost, schedule, and performance of Bechtel’s construction projects in Ethiopia. Reporting to the Senior Project Controls Manager, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones.
• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts, and track actual expenditures against baseline.
• Implement earned value management (EVM) techniques to assess project performance and forecast future trends.
• Generate regular progress reports, variance analyses, and risk assessments for senior management and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to resolve schedule and cost issues promptly.
• Support change order management, including impact analysis and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Bechtel’s internal controls, client requirements, and local regulatory standards.
• Facilitate project control workshops and training sessions for on‑site personnel.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in project scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and cost control tools.
• Strong analytical abilities with a solid understanding of earned value management.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
• Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
• Familiarity with Ethiopian construction regulations and standards is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP, or a Master’s degree in Project Management are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience

Applicants should have 5 to 7 years of hands‑on experience in project controls within the construction or infrastructure sector. Experience on large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary projects, preferably in emerging markets, will be valued.

Salary
