Job Overview

The Logistics Operations Manager will lead the end‑to‑end logistics processes at the Arba Minch hub, ensuring timely, cost‑effective, and compliant movement of goods. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will oversee inbound and outbound shipments, manage warehouse operations, coordinate with customs authorities, and drive performance improvements through data‑driven decision making. Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily operations of the Arba Minch hub, including receiving, sorting, dispatch, and last‑mile delivery.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to ensure compliance with local regulations, DHL standards, and international trade requirements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, cost per shipment, and inventory accuracy, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Lead a team of supervisors, coordinators, and warehouse staff, providing coaching, performance reviews, and career development plans.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and IT departments to align operational capacity with market demand.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and local transport providers to optimize transit times and costs.
  • Oversee safety and security protocols, ensuring a zero‑incident workplace.
  • Prepare operational budgets, forecast resource needs, and control expenses to meet financial targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management and contribute to strategic planning for regional expansion.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and people‑management abilities with a focus on team empowerment.
  • In‑depth knowledge of logistics, supply chain, and customs procedures in Ethiopia.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software (e.g., SAP TM, DHL’s proprietary systems).
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience with KPI tracking and reporting.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to make data‑driven decisions under pressure.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic; additional languages are a plus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or Lean Six Sigma are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to best practices in logistics.

Experience

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in logistics operations, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in an international logistics company or exposure to cross‑border freight handling is preferred. Candidates with a track record of implementing process improvements and managing multi‑modal transportation will be given priority.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
