Job Overview

The E-commerce Operations Manager will lead end‑to‑end operational processes that ensure efficient order fulfillment, inventory management, and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Marketing, Technology, Finance, and Customer Service to optimize the online shopping journey. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve order processing workflows to achieve a 99% on‑time delivery rate.
  • Manage inventory levels across multiple fulfillment centers, ensuring optimal stock availability while minimizing excess.
  • Lead a team of operations supervisors, analysts, and warehouse staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to integrate automation tools, data analytics, and AI‑driven forecasting models.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order cycle time, fulfillment cost per order, and customer satisfaction scores, and develop action plans to address gaps.
  • Coordinate with Logistics partners to negotiate rates, improve last‑mile delivery efficiency, and expand coverage to new neighborhoods.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, tax requirements, and safety standards in all operational activities.
  • Prepare regular operational reports for senior leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent leadership and people‑management capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of e‑commerce supply chain dynamics, including warehousing, last‑mile delivery, and returns management.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage vendor relationships effectively.
  • Proficiency in ERP or OMS platforms; experience with Jumia’s proprietary systems is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English and Amharic; knowledge of Afaan Oromo is advantageous.
  • Problem‑solving orientation with a track record of implementing process improvements.

Education

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline. Advanced certifications such as APICS CPIM, PMP, or a Master’s degree are considered a strong advantage.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of progressive experience in e‑commerce operations, preferably within fast‑growing markets. Experience managing multi‑site fulfillment networks and leading cross‑functional projects is essential.

Salary
