Job Overview

The Data Center Operations Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of Cisco’s new data center facility in Dessie, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of critical services. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the manager will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff. Responsibilities include capacity planning, incident management, compliance with industry standards, and continuous improvement of operational processes. Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Dessie data center, ensuring 99.9% uptime and adherence to service level agreements.
• Lead a team of 20+ engineers and technicians, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Develop and implement capacity planning strategies to accommodate growth in traffic and storage needs.
• Coordinate incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for any service disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and local regulatory requirements for data security and privacy.
• Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for power, cooling, and networking equipment.
• Collaborate with Cisco’s global support and product teams to integrate new technologies and upgrades.
• Prepare operational reports, dashboards, and KPI metrics for senior leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using ITIL and Lean methodologies.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements for third‑party providers.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cooling systems.
• Proficiency in virtualization platforms (VMware, Cisco UCS) and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Cisco DCNM, SolarWinds, or Nagios.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Solid understanding of ITIL framework and incident management processes.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex performance data.
• Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Amharic is a plus.
• Problem‑solving orientation and ability to work under pressure.
• Project management experience, preferably with PMP or PRINCE2 certification.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in data center operations, infrastructure management, or related fields.
