Job Overview

THE HALO TRUST is seeking an experienced and highly disciplined Multitask Deputy Team Leader to support the execution of Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) field operations across the Afar Region. The role involves supporting operational planning, supervising field teams, maintaining security awareness, ensuring quality data collection, and assisting with humanitarian mine action activities.

The successful candidate will act as second-in-command within the Multitask Team and support leadership responsibilities during field deployment while ensuring strict compliance with HALO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Ethiopia National Mine Action Standards (ENMAS), and International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).

Key Job Responsibilities

The Multitask Deputy Team Leader will support operational leadership and ensure efficient implementation of field activities.

Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Support the Multitask Team Leader in daily operational planning and coordination
  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, discipline, and integrity
  • Supervise field personnel including Medic and Driver during deployment
  • Motivate team members to uphold humanitarian principles and ethical standards
  • Act as Team Leader during absence and ensure operational continuity
  • Monitor staff welfare and escalate operational concerns when required

Operational Planning & Security Awareness

  • Participate in pre-deployment operational briefings
  • Ensure team members understand assigned roles and safety procedures
  • Support engagement with local authorities, stakeholders, and community leaders
  • Assist in CASEVAC (Casualty Evacuation) planning and journey coordination
  • Maintain strong situational awareness and report security concerns promptly
  • Ensure field operations comply with humanitarian safety standards

Survey, Data Collection & Reporting
