Job Overview

The Construction Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and reporting on cost, schedule, and performance metrics for Bechtel’s flagship construction projects in Ethiopia. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent tools.
• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring alignment with project scope and contractual obligations.
• Monitor and report on project performance, variance analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate schedule and cost data.
• Generate regular progress reports for senior management, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Implement earned value management (EVM) techniques to assess project health.
• Support change order management and impact analysis.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and Bechtel’s internal policies.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in project scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and cost control tools.
• Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data accuracy and interpretation.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of Ethiopian construction codes, labor regulations, and procurement practices.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP, or AACE Certified Cost Professional are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in construction project controls, preferably on large‑scale infrastructure or industrial projects. Experience working in Ethiopia or other African markets is advantageous, as is familiarity with multinational project environments.

Salary
