Job Overview

The Senior Agricultural Finance Analyst will lead the design, evaluation, and execution of credit products and risk management strategies for the agricultural portfolio in the Hawassa region. This position plays a critical role in assessing loan proposals, conducting financial modeling, and providing strategic insights to senior management. The analyst will collaborate closely with relationship managers, risk officers, and product development teams to ensure that financing solutions meet the unique needs of farmers and agribusinesses while maintaining the bank’s risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite agricultural loan applications, including cash‑crop, horticulture, livestock, and agribusiness projects.
  • Develop financial models to assess profitability, cash flow, and repayment capacity of agricultural borrowers.
  • Conduct field visits and on‑site assessments to verify collateral, production cycles, and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with product development to design tailored financing packages that address seasonal cash flow gaps.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signs, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate credit risk.
  • Prepare detailed credit proposals and present findings to the Credit Committee.
  • Stay updated on Ethiopia’s agricultural policies, market trends, and regulatory changes affecting financing.
  • Mentor junior analysts and provide training on agricultural credit assessment techniques.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and statistical tools.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Ethiopia’s agricultural value chains, seasonal cycles, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities to convey complex financial concepts to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional projects.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment frameworks and familiarity with Basel III guidelines.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic; knowledge of Oromo is an advantage.

Education

A Master’s degree in Finance, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or AGRI‑FIN are preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in agricultural finance, credit analysis, or related fields within a banking or financial services environment. Prior experience in Ethiopia or East Africa is highly valued.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the total rewards.
