Job Overview

This position is part of CARE Ethiopia’s flagship agricultural development program, which aims to scale up climate-smart farming techniques in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR). The role requires a dynamic professional to coordinate project activities, manage partnerships, and ensure measurable impact on local farming communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of sustainable agriculture projects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local farmers, cooperatives, and government stakeholders
  • Design training programs on soil conservation, crop diversification, and water management
  • li>Coordinate data collection and impact assessment for donor reporting

  • Manage project budgets and ensure compliance with donor requirements

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in agricultural project management
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian rural development challenges
  • Excellent stakeholder coordination and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and agricultural data analysis
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Amharic

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not mandatory

Experience

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in agricultural development
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-year projects

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 ETB per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
