Job Overview
The Senior Legal Counsel will play a pivotal role in our Adis Abeba office, acting as a primary legal advisor for our corporate clients. This role involves navigating the intricate legal landscape of Ethiopia, ensuring compliance with local regulations while aligning with international corporate standards. You will be responsible for drafting complex commercial agreements, providing strategic legal advice on mergers and acquisitions, and managing regulatory filings. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal counsel on corporate governance, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex international and domestic commercial agreements.
- Advise clients on the legal implications of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure client compliance with Ethiopian law.
- Conduct legal research and provide detailed legal opinions on emerging regulatory trends.
- Manage and oversee external legal counsel when necessary for specialized litigation.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Ethiopian commercial law and international business regulations.
- Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills for complex legal instruments.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret complex statutory frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Amharic.

Education
A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is mandatory. A Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate Law or International Business Law is highly preferred to ensure the candidate can handle the complexities of our global client base.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm or a large corporate legal department is required. Proven experience in handling cross-border transactions and regulatory compliance within the East African region is a significant advantage.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 85,000 SSP to 120,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s expertise and qualifications.
