Job Overview
The Senior Flight Operations Analyst will play a pivotal role in optimizing flight schedules, analyzing operational data, and ensuring compliance with international aviation standards. Reporting to the Head of Flight Operations, the analyst will collaborate with pilots, dispatchers, maintenance teams, and airport authorities to improve on‑time performance, reduce operational costs, and enhance safety metrics. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze flight data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for schedule optimization.
- Develop and maintain advanced forecasting models for passenger demand and aircraft utilization.
- Coordinate with the scheduling team to create efficient flight plans that meet regulatory and commercial requirements.
- Monitor real‑time operational performance and generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with ICAO, IATA, and Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority regulations.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering departments to minimize aircraft downtime.
- Support the implementation of new airline management software and data analytics tools.
- Provide actionable insights to improve on‑time performance, fuel efficiency, and cost control.
- Lead special projects related to network expansion, seasonal scheduling, and contingency planning.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives within the Flight Operations department.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- In‑depth knowledge of airline scheduling, flight operations, and aviation regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Problem‑solving mindset with the capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with airline operational software such as Sabre, Amadeus, or similar platforms.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance.
- Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
Education
A relevant bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for candidates holding a master’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Operations Research, or Business Analytics. Professional certifications such as IATA’s Flight Operations Management or ICAO’s Aviation Safety Management are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience in flight operations analysis, airline scheduling, or a closely related aviation field. Experience with African airline networks, regional airport operations, or multi‑city route planning will be considered a strong asset.
Salary
