Job Overview
The Senior Downstream Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of the refinery’s downstream processes, ensuring optimal production, quality, and safety standards. Reporting directly to the Country Operations Director, the role involves strategic planning, performance monitoring, and cross‑functional collaboration with engineering, maintenance, supply chain, and commercial teams. This position plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance with local regulations, while supporting TotalEnergies’ broader vision of clean and reliable energy for Ethiopia. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all refinery downstream activities, including distillation, blending, and product storage.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve throughput, yield, and profitability.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and supervisors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate regular reports for senior management.
- Coordinate with supply chain and logistics to optimize feedstock delivery and product distribution.
- Manage budgeting, cost control, and capital project execution for downstream assets.
- Drive implementation of digital tools and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
- Engage with local communities and stakeholders to promote corporate social responsibility initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, or HSE certifications are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in downstream oil and gas operations, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role overseeing large‑scale refinery activities.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 350,000 to SSP 500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
