Job Overview

The Senior 5G Network Deployment Engineer will lead the planning, design, and execution of 5G radio access network (RAN) projects in the Gambela region. Reporting to the Regional Network Operations Manager, the incumbent will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including RF planning, core network integration, and site acquisition, to ensure seamless rollout of 5G services that meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end 5G RAN deployment projects, from site surveys to commissioning.
• Develop detailed RF plans, antenna configurations, and capacity forecasts aligned with Huawei’s 5G standards.
• Coordinate with local authorities for site permits, ensuring compliance with Ethiopian regulations.
• Manage vendor relationships, oversee equipment delivery, and verify installation quality.
• Conduct on‑site testing, drive‑tests, and performance optimization to achieve target KPIs.
• Prepare technical documentation, project reports, and risk assessments for senior management.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and field technicians.
• Collaborate with the core network team to integrate 5G with existing LTE and 4G infrastructure.
• Support network troubleshooting and post‑deployment maintenance activities.

Required Skills

• Deep expertise in 5G NR, LTE, and RF engineering principles.
• Proficiency with Huawei’s network planning tools (iMaster NCE, Planet) and O&M platforms.
• Strong project management abilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Amharic or local languages is a plus.
• Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on innovative solutions.
• Ability to work in remote and challenging field conditions.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Huawei Certified Network Professional (HCNP) – 5G, or equivalent, are highly desirable.

Experience

At least eight years of progressive experience in telecom network deployment, with a minimum of three years dedicated to 5G projects. Prior experience managing large‑scale infrastructure projects in Ethiopia or similar emerging markets is preferred.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances are also part of the compensation package.
