Job Overview

The Network Planning Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and expanding Huawei’s telecom network solutions within Ethiopia. Reporting to the Lead Network Architect, you will be responsible for creating detailed network plans, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring that all designs meet performance, capacity, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive radio access network (RAN) and core network designs for 4G/5G deployments across diverse terrains.
  • Perform site surveys, drive tests, and capacity analysis to validate network performance and coverage.
  • Collaborate with RF engineers, civil teams, and local authorities to secure site approvals and ensure compliance with Ethiopian telecom regulations.
  • Generate detailed engineering documents, including bill of materials, cost estimates, and implementation schedules.
  • Utilize Huawei’s proprietary planning tools and industry‑standard software to simulate network behavior and optimize parameters.
  • Provide technical support during construction, integration, and commissioning phases, troubleshooting design‑related issues.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, standards, and market trends to recommend innovative solutions.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of LTE, 5G NR, and core network architectures.
  • Proficiency with network planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or Huawei’s iMaster NCE.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven approach.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Ethiopian telecom regulatory framework is a plus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in network planning or 5G technologies are highly desirable.

Salary
