Job Overview
The Industrial Automation Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems that drive production efficiency at Heineken Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar brewery. Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission PLC and HMI solutions for production lines, packaging, and utility systems.
- Develop and maintain SCADA dashboards to monitor real‑time performance metrics and support data‑driven decision making.
- Collaborate with mechanical and process engineers to integrate new equipment and retrofit existing machinery with automation upgrades.
- Conduct risk assessments, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with international safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 13849) and Heineken’s internal safety protocols.
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance staff and operators on automated equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects, leveraging Industry 4.0 concepts such as predictive maintenance and digital twins.
- Document system architecture, configuration, and change management procedures in accordance with quality management systems.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Siemens STEP 7, Allen‑Bradley RSLogix, or equivalent).
- Experience with SCADA platforms (Wonderware, Ignition, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
- Understanding of robotics integration and motion control.

Education
