Job Overview

The Logistics Automation Engineer will design, implement, and optimize automated material handling systems within DHL’s Bako warehouse and cross‑dock facilities. Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, the incumbent will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including IT, warehouse operations, and external technology partners—to integrate robotics, conveyor systems, warehouse management software (WMS), and Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer automated material handling solutions, including robotic pick‑and‑place, conveyor belts, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
• Conduct site assessments, process mapping, and capacity analysis to identify automation opportunities.
• Develop detailed technical specifications, schematics, and integration plans for hardware and software components.
• Lead installation, commissioning, and testing of automation equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and DHL’s operational protocols.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate automation controls with DHL’s WMS and ERP systems.
• Monitor system performance, analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical training and support to warehouse staff and maintenance teams.
• Manage relationships with vendors, system integrators, and local contractors.
• Prepare project budgets, timelines, and risk assessments, reporting progress to senior management.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in automation technologies such as PLC programming, robotics, and sensor integration.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP integration.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline is required. Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing, implementing, or managing automation projects within a logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing environment.
