Job Overview

The Data Center Energy Efficiency Engineer will lead initiatives to optimize power consumption, improve cooling efficiency, and implement renewable energy solutions within Oracle Ethiopia’s Mekele data center. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive energy audits of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, UPS systems, and cooling equipment.
  • Develop and implement energy‑saving strategies such as free‑cooling, hot‑aisle/cold‑aisle containment, and variable speed fan controls.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors to integrate renewable energy sources, such as solar PV, into the data center design.
  • Monitor real‑time energy metrics using BMS (Building Management System) and generate monthly performance reports.
  • Lead cross‑functional projects to retrofit legacy equipment with high‑efficiency alternatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian environmental regulations and Oracle’s internal sustainability policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to facilities staff on energy‑efficient operating procedures.
  • Prepare cost‑benefit analyses and ROI calculations for proposed upgrades.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of data center power architecture, cooling technologies, and energy management systems.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., EnergyPlus, eQuest) and data analytics tools.
  • Experience with renewable energy integration and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, ISO 50001).

Education
