Job Overview
The Senior Logistics Operations Manager will lead the Arba Minch operations team, overseeing end‑to‑end logistics processes, including inbound and outbound shipments, customs clearance, warehouse management, and last‑mile delivery. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the manager will develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with local regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of logistics coordinators, warehouse staff, and transportation specialists.
- Design and optimize workflow processes to achieve on‑time delivery targets and cost efficiencies.
- Manage relationships with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and local carriers to ensure smooth clearance and transport.
- Implement performance metrics, monitor KPIs, and generate regular reports for senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data analytics and lean methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory standards across all operations.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service to align operational capacity with market demand.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, stock replenishment, and warehouse space utilization.
- Develop contingency plans for disruptions such as weather events or supply chain bottlenecks.
- Represent DHL in local industry forums and promote best practices in logistics.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
- Expertise in supply chain software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or DHL proprietary systems).
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage vendor contracts.
- Effective communication in English and Amharic; additional languages are a plus.
- Knowledge of Ethiopian customs regulations and international trade compliance.

Education
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in logistics are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in logistics operations, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial role, is required. Experience within the Ethiopian market or East African region is highly preferred.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 300,000 to 500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
