Job Overview

The Senior Construction Project Controls Engineer will lead the planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and performance monitoring of large‑scale construction projects in the Gondar region. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is pivotal in providing data‑driven insights that support decision‑making, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project, aligning with contractual milestones.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts, integrating labor, material, and equipment rates.
  • Monitor project performance, analyze variances, and generate weekly and monthly reports for senior management.
  • Implement earned value management (EVM) techniques to assess schedule and cost performance.
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to resolve schedule conflicts and cost overruns.
  • Facilitate risk identification workshops and maintain a risk register with mitigation strategies.
  • Support change order evaluation, ensuring accurate impact assessment on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Lead the preparation of progress dashboards for clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and cost estimating software (e.g., CostX, Sage Estimating).
  • Strong analytical abilities with expertise in earned value management and KPI tracking.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership in multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Amharic is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP, or AACE Certified Cost Professional are highly preferred. Continuous learning and participation in industry seminars are encouraged to stay current with evolving construction methodologies.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in project controls for large‑scale construction projects, preferably in the African market. Experience with infrastructure, commercial, or industrial facilities, and a track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget, will be considered strong assets.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from 250,000 to 350,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
