Job Overview

The Chief Data Governance Officer will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks that ensure data quality, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance across all Google Ethiopia operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce enterprise‑wide data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary data governance council to align data initiatives with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian data protection regulations and international standards such as GDPR and ISO 8000.
  • Oversee data quality programs, including data profiling, cleansing, and master data management.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to manage data risk assessments and incident response.

Required Skills

Education

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in data governance, data management, or related fields, with at least five years in a senior leadership role. Experience within a multinational technology environment and familiarity with cloud‑based data platforms (Google Cloud, BigQuery) are essential.

Salary
