Job Overview

The Water Quality Monitoring Specialist will lead the planning, execution, and reporting of comprehensive water quality assessments across the Dessie service area. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement systematic water sampling programs for raw, treated, and distribution water.
• Conduct laboratory analyses using standard methods for parameters such as pH, turbidity, microbial counts, heavy metals, and chemical contaminants.
• Interpret analytical results, compare them against Ethiopian Standards (ES) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Identify trends, potential sources of contamination, and recommend mitigation strategies to engineering and operations teams.
• Coordinate with local health authorities and environmental agencies during incident investigations and emergency response.
• Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with quality assurance protocols.
• Train and mentor junior field staff on sampling techniques, safety procedures, and data management.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for water quality monitoring activities.
• Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness about water safety and hygiene practices.
• Support the preparation of annual water quality performance dashboards for senior management.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of water chemistry, microbiology, and environmental engineering principles.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Water Resources Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Experience
