Job Overview
The Logistics Network Planner will design, analyze, and optimize Maersk’s inland transportation network across Ethiopia, ensuring efficient movement of containers from ports to inland destinations and vice‑versa. The role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams, leveraging data analytics, and implementing route‑optimization models that reduce transit time, cost, and carbon footprint. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dynamic network models that simulate freight flows across road, rail, and multimodal corridors.
- Analyze historical shipment data to identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Management team to align vehicle allocation with demand forecasts.
- Design optimal routing strategies that balance service level agreements with operational efficiency.
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance dashboards for senior leadership, highlighting key performance indicators such as on‑time delivery, transit time variance, and cost per TEU.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating emerging technologies such as AI‑driven demand forecasting and IoT‑enabled asset tracking.
- Coordinate with customs brokerage, warehousing, and inland depot teams to ensure seamless hand‑offs and compliance with Ethiopian regulations.
- Support the development of contingency plans for disruptions caused by weather, infrastructure challenges, or geopolitical events.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in logistics planning software (e.g., Llamasoft, AnyLogistix) and GIS tools.
- Strong analytical mindset with expertise in Excel, SQL, and data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
- Effective communication skills to present complex analyses to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Knowledge of Ethiopian transport regulations, customs procedures, and regional trade corridors.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) are highly regarded.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in logistics network design, route optimization, or transportation planning within a multinational environment. Experience in emerging markets, particularly in East Africa, will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 180,000 to SSP 240,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
