Job Overview
The Learning Analytics Engineer will design, develop, and maintain analytics pipelines that collect, process, and visualize educational data from AWS‑hosted platforms. Working closely with product managers, data scientists, and educational partners, you will create dashboards, predictive models, and reporting tools that enable educators to monitor student performance, identify learning gaps, and personalize instruction. Key Responsibilities
- Develop end‑to‑end data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Redshift, and S3 to ingest and transform educational data.
- Design and implement real‑time analytics dashboards with QuickSight to provide actionable insights for teachers and administrators.
- Collaborate with curriculum experts to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that reflect student engagement and achievement.
- Build predictive models using machine learning services (SageMaker) to forecast student outcomes and recommend interventions.
- Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with Ethiopian education regulations and international standards.
- Optimize data storage and processing costs while maintaining high performance and scalability.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge‑sharing sessions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data‑engineering frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Spark).
- Hands‑on experience with AWS analytics services (Redshift, Athena, Glue, QuickSight, SageMaker).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity with education data standards (e.g., IMS Global, xAPI) is a plus.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication skills to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty) are highly desirable.

Salary
