Job Overview

The Grid Integration Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of grid interconnection solutions for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric facilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed grid impact studies and load flow analyses for new renewable energy installations.
  • Develop technical specifications, single‑line diagrams, and protection schemes for grid interconnection.
  • Coordinate with Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) and regional utilities to obtain interconnection approvals and ensure compliance with national standards.
  • Lead on‑site testing, commissioning, and performance validation of grid‑connected assets.
  • Provide technical guidance to project managers, contractors, and local stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, technical documentation, and cost estimates for senior management review.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot grid integration issues post‑commissioning, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in power system simulation tools such as PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or ETAP.
  • Strong understanding of IEC 61850, IEEE 1547, and local grid codes.
  • Experience with renewable energy technologies and their grid interaction characteristics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Amharic is advantageous.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEM) are considered a strong advantage and reflect GE’s emphasis on continuous learning and expertise development.
