Job Overview

The Solar Project Development Engineer will lead the end‑to‑end development of utility‑scale solar projects from site identification through to commercial operation. Reporting to the Head of Project Development, the engineer will conduct technical feasibility studies, coordinate permitting processes, manage stakeholder relationships, and work closely with EPC contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential solar sites using GIS, satellite imagery, and on‑ground assessments.
• Lead technical feasibility studies, including energy yield analysis, grid interconnection studies, and financial modeling.
• Prepare and submit permitting documentation to federal, regional, and local authorities, ensuring compliance with Ethiopian regulations.
• Coordinate with land owners, community leaders, and NGOs to secure land use agreements and foster community support.
• Develop detailed project execution plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with EPC contractors.
• Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the legal, procurement, and finance teams to align contractual terms and financing structures.
• Provide technical input for power purchase agreements (PPAs) and grid connection agreements.
• Support the commissioning and handover phases, ensuring performance guarantees are met.
