Job Overview

The Data Analytics Lead will spearhead the design, development, and execution of advanced analytics solutions that drive strategic decision‑making across Microsoft Ethiopia’s product, sales, and customer success functions. Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the data analytics roadmap in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Design, develop, and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines and dashboards using Azure Data Factory, Power BI, and related technologies.
  • Lead a team of 5‑7 analysts and data engineers, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify analytics opportunities that improve revenue, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with Ethiopian data protection laws.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and analytical models.
  • Present insights and recommendations to executive stakeholders in clear, compelling formats.
  • Stay current with emerging analytics trends, tools, and best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
  • Extensive experience with Azure analytics services (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Machine Learning).
  • Strong expertise in data visualization using Power BI or Tableau.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing analytics teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex insights to non‑technical audiences.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Azure Data Engineer) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering, with at least two (2) years in a leadership or supervisory role. Proven experience in designing and implementing analytics solutions within a large‑scale enterprise environment is essential. Experience working in the Ethiopian market or with African technology initiatives is a plus.

Salary
