Job Overview

The Sustainable Tourism Development Manager will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of eco‑friendly tourism initiatives in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region, with a focus on the Jinka area, known for its proximity to the Mago National Park and the unique cultural tapestry of the Hamer people. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainable tourism strategy for the Jinka region, aligning with national tourism policies and international best practices.
• Conduct environmental and social impact assessments for new tourism projects, ensuring compliance with UNESCO and national conservation guidelines.
• Facilitate community engagement workshops to co‑create tourism products that reflect local culture and generate income for residents.

Education

A Master’s degree in Tourism Management, Sustainable Development, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in Project Management (PMP) or Sustainable Tourism (GSTC) will be given preference.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in tourism development, sustainable tourism, or related fields, preferably within the African context. Experience working with NGOs, government agencies, or international development donors is highly desirable.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 200,000 to 350,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances for field travel are included.
