Job Overview

The Industrial Safety Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs for Honeywell’s manufacturing facilities in Ethiopia. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with local regulations, international standards, and Honeywell’s own rigorous safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and hazard analyses for all manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and work instructions in line with ISO 45001 and local regulations.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate safety considerations into equipment design, layout, and process improvements.
• Deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns for all staff levels.
• Monitor and report safety performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.
• Manage the selection, installation, and maintenance of safety equipment such as emergency shutdown systems, fire suppression, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external consultants during inspections and certifications.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, local Ethiopian regulations).
• Proficiency in risk assessment tools (HAZOP, FMEA, LOPA).
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with safety management software and data analytics.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
