Job Overview

The Crop Protection Specialist will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of integrated pest management strategies for key crops cultivated in the Gambela region. This role involves close interaction with farmers, agronomists, and sales teams to ensure the effective use of Bayer’s portfolio of herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field trials, collect data, and analyze results to optimize pest management recommendations.
• Provide technical support and training to farmers, extension officers, and sales representatives.
• Collaborate with regulatory affairs to ensure compliance with Ethiopian agricultural regulations.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging pest threats to inform product positioning.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and scientific publications for internal and external audiences.
• Participate in cross‑functional teams to integrate crop protection strategies with seed, digital, and nutrition solutions.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of agronomy, plant pathology, entomology, and herbicide chemistry.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of translating complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and field trial software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Amharic or local languages is an advantage.
• Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on sustainable agriculture.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees (MSc or PhD) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience
