Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize smart grid infrastructure for urban and rural energy distribution.
  • Collaborate with local utilities to integrate solar and wind energy into the national grid.
  • Conduct technical audits of existing grid systems to identify upgrade opportunities.
  • Train local engineers on advanced grid management software and hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian energy regulations and international safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in smart grid technologies and IoT-enabled energy systems.
  • Proficiency in SCADA systems and grid simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E).
  • Strong analytical skills for load forecasting and demand-side management.
  • Experience in cross-cultural project management in East Africa.
  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of Amharic.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field. Advanced degrees (Master’s) in Energy Systems are preferred.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in smart grid deployment, preferably in developing markets. Prior projects in Ethiopia or neighboring East African countries are advantageous.

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and technical expertise.
