Job Overview

The Senior Clinical Research Associate will lead and oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of Phase II and Phase III clinical trials conducted in Ethiopia and neighboring regions. Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, the incumbent will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including medical affairs, regulatory affairs, data management, and external investigators, to ensure trials are conducted in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), local regulations, and Pfizer’s internal standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design, initiate, and manage clinical trial sites across Dessie and surrounding regions, ensuring adherence to study protocols and timelines.
• Conduct site selection, qualification, and initiation visits, providing training and support to investigators and study staff.
• Monitor trial progress through regular site visits, source data verification, and safety reporting, addressing any deviations promptly.
• Collaborate with regulatory affairs to prepare and submit required documentation to the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) and ethics committees.
• Maintain accurate trial documentation, including case report forms, monitoring reports, and regulatory binders.
• Coordinate with data management to ensure timely and high‑quality data capture and query resolution.
• Facilitate communication between Pfizer’s global clinical teams and local sites, ensuring alignment on study objectives and expectations.
• Identify and mitigate risks, develop corrective action plans, and ensure continuous improvement of trial processes.
• Contribute to the development of study budgets, timelines, and resource allocation plans.
• Represent Pfizer at scientific conferences, stakeholder meetings, and community outreach events to promote trial awareness and recruitment.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of GCP, ICH guidelines, and local regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Proven ability to manage multiple sites and complex trial logistics.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail in data review and safety reporting.
• Proficiency in electronic data capture (EDC) systems and clinical trial management software.

Education

A Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Life Sciences, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of hands‑on experience in clinical research, with a track record of managing Phase II/III trials in emerging markets. Experience in infectious disease studies, oncology, or vaccine trials is preferred. Prior exposure to the Ethiopian regulatory environment and experience working with local investigators will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from 180,000 to 250,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and pension contributions in line with local labor regulations.
