Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Public Relations Specialist to join our Dire Dawa regional office. This role is critical in managing the public image of the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation and ensuring that our messaging reaches all stakeholders effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that enhance our brand reputation and foster positive relationships with the community, government officials, and other media entities. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to promote EBC’s programming and corporate initiatives.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and official statements to local and national news outlets.
- Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate press conferences.
- Manage the organization’s presence at public events and community gatherings to enhance brand visibility.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on public sentiment and brand reputation.
- Collaborate with the digital media team to ensure consistent messaging across all social media platforms.
- Develop crisis communication plans to mitigate negative publicity and manage organizational reputation during sensitive periods.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Amharic and English.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven experience in media relations and strategic communication planning.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media management platforms.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field from a recognized university is mandatory.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 3 to 5 years of professional experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media management, preferably within a large-scale organization.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 15,000 to 25,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
