Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Hydrometallurgical Plant Operator to join our specialized production team in Semera. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control chemical leaching processes to ensure optimal gold recovery from ore.
  • Operate and maintain hydrometallurgical equipment including tanks, pumps, and filtration systems.
  • Perform regular sampling and laboratory analysis to monitor reagent concentrations and solution chemistry.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols to prevent chemical spills or accidents.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and chemical process deviations to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate digital logs of production data, reagent usage, and equipment performance.

Required Skills

  • Advanced understanding of hydrometallurgical processes such as cyanidation and electrowinning.
  • Proficiency in operating Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA interfaces.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex chemical data and process trends.
  • Exceptional attention to detail regarding safety and chemical handling procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, industrial environment.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and chemical kinetics.

Experience

Applicants must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct experience in a large-scale hydrometallurgical plant or mineral processing facility. Previous experience in the gold mining sector is highly preferred. Candidates should be familiar with international mining safety standards.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 45,000 SSP to 75,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical certifications. This package is competitive within the Ethiopian mining sector.
