Job Overview

The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive EHS programs for Diageo’s new manufacturing plant in Hosaena. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS management systems aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits across all production and support areas.
  • Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian environmental and occupational health regulations, as well as Diageo’s global policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to plant personnel on safe work practices and environmental stewardship.
  • Monitor emissions, waste streams, and resource consumption, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to integrate safety controls into equipment design and process modifications.
  • Prepare and present EHS performance reports to senior management and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian environmental and occupational health legislation.
  • Proficiency in ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause investigation abilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive cultural change.
  • Experience with incident management software and EHS data analytics tools.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or NEBOSH are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in environmental health and safety within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the beverage or food processing industry. Demonstrated experience leading large‑scale EHS projects and managing regulatory compliance is essential.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 250,000 – 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
