Job Overview

The Wind Farm Project Engineer will lead the technical execution of wind farm projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with international standards and Ethiopian regulations. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, local authorities, and external partners to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs, layout plans, and technical specifications for wind farm installations.
• Coordinate civil, electrical, and mechanical works, ensuring seamless integration of turbine components.
• Conduct site assessments, wind resource analysis, and feasibility studies to optimize turbine placement.
• Manage procurement processes, vendor selection, and contract negotiations for equipment and services.
• Oversee construction activities, monitor progress, and resolve technical issues on‑site.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and present technical reports, cost estimates, and risk assessments to senior management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with local utilities and grid operators to secure interconnection agreements.
• Lead commissioning activities, performance testing, and handover procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer within the project team.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of wind turbine technology, power systems, and grid integration.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, and SCADA systems.
• Excellent project management abilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to make data‑driven decisions.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Amharic or Tigrinya is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEng) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in wind farm design, construction, or operations, preferably within the African market. Experience with international standards such as IEC 61400 and local Ethiopian energy regulations is essential.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this position is SSP 250,000 to 350,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be applicable.
