Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive site investigations, including soil sampling, borehole drilling, and laboratory testing to assess ground conditions.
- Develop geotechnical designs, foundation recommendations, and slope stability analyses for bridges, roads, and building foundations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings in compliance with international standards and Ethiopian regulations.
- Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental engineers to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
- Monitor construction activities on site, ensuring that workmanship, materials, and methods adhere to design specifications and safety protocols.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks related to ground conditions, groundwater, and seismic activity.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field staff.
- Coordinate with local authorities, consultants, and community stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and address concerns.
- Utilize advanced software tools such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, and AutoCAD Civil 3D for modeling and analysis.
- Support cost estimation, value engineering, and schedule optimization to enhance project profitability.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and foundation design.
- Proficiency in engineering software for analysis and design (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SAP2000).

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer) or CEng are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of hands‑on experience in geotechnical investigations, design, and construction supervision for infrastructure projects. Experience working on large‑scale public works or private sector developments in Ethiopia or other African countries is preferred.
Salary
