Role Overview

The Automation & Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of the plant’s automation infrastructure. This includes PLC/DCS control systems, SCADA/HMI interfaces, instrumentation calibration, and production process automation to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability across all cement manufacturing stages.

Key Responsibilities

Design, program, and configure automation systems (PLC, DCS, HMI) for cement plant operations including raw material handling, kiln control, mills, packing, and material transport.

Perform system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and continuous optimization to ensure high uptime and minimal production disruptions.

Integrate new instrumentation, sensors, and control modules into existing automation frameworks.

Collaborate with production, electrical, and maintenance teams to identify automation improvements and support scheduled plant shutdown activities.

Develop, maintain, and update PLC logic, control system documentation, and emergency operating procedures.

Monitor plant performance data, interpret control loop behavior, and recommend improvements for efficiency, energy savings, and process stability.

Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance staff on control systems and programming tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation/Control Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

3–5+ years of practical experience with industrial automation systems, preferably in heavy industry or cement manufacturing.

Hands‑on experience with PLC/DCS programming, SCADA/HMI systems, and factory control networks.

Technical Skills & Competencies

Strong PLC programming skills (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or equivalent) with working knowledge of ladder logic, function blocks, and sequential function charts.

Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).

Knowledge of electrical and process instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, drives, and control loops.

Ability to read electrical and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and cross‑functional communication skills.
